LITTLE JOURNALIST PROGRAMME

The Little Journalist Program at IFIS offers students the opportunity to visit different workplaces throughout the year, experiencing various jobs as one-day workers. This hands-on program helps students develop critical thinking, communication, and observation skills, while connecting real-world experiences with classroom learning, making education dynamic and engaging.

At Impact Family International School, we are proud to offer a unique and exciting opportunity for our students to explore the world beyond the classroom through our Little Journalist Program. This ongoing initiative throughout the school year allows children to become young journalists, visiting various workplaces and experiencing what it’s like to be a one-day worker at different jobs. It’s an engaging way for students to connect learning with real-world experiences!

What is the Little Journalist Program?

In the Little Journalist Program, students are not just observers—they’re active participants. Throughout the school year, our students will visit diverse workplaces, from bustling bakeries to innovative tech companies, art studios, and more. During these visits, they will step into the shoes of professionals for a day, learning the ins and outs of their jobs and gaining invaluable insights into different careers.

As little journalists, students will not only get hands-on experience but will also sharpen their communication, critical thinking, and observational skills. They’ll have the opportunity to ask thoughtful questions, observe the details of the work environment, and even contribute to the day’s tasks. For instance, in a bakery, they might help prepare dough or decorate pastries, all while learning from experts in the field. It’s an immersive experience that blends fun with learning.

Learning Key Skills for Life

One of the key aspects of the Little Journalist Program is the focus on developing communication skills. Our students will interview professionals, learning how to ask the right questions and engage in meaningful conversations. They’ll also practice observation—paying attention to how things work, the environment they’re in, and what it takes to excel in different professions. These skills are essential not only in journalism but in life, helping them become more articulate, attentive, and curious individuals.

Another critical component of the program is encouraging critical thinking. As they explore various workplaces, students are guided to analyze and reflect on what they observe, evaluating different approaches to problem-solving and decision-making in real-life work environments. This enhances their ability to think independently, assess situations from different perspectives, and develop informed opinions—skills that are invaluable in all areas of life and learning.

Additionally, students will have the chance to experience hands-on activities at each workplace, allowing them to directly engage with the tools and tasks of the job. Whether they are making bread at a bakery or sketching designs at an art studio, students are encouraged to explore their creativity and curiosity while gaining real-world skills.

A Programme That Sets Us Apart

The Little Journalist Program is one of the many special features that makes Impact Family International School stand out. By connecting students with real-world experiences, we enrich their education in a way that traditional classroom learning alone cannot. This program allows students to see how the concepts they study are applied in real life, giving them a broader perspective on the world around them.

We believe that education should be dynamic and holistic, and the Little Journalist Program is just one of the many ways we ensure our students are not only learning but thriving. Through this program, we help them develop critical thinking, communication, and observational skills that will serve them well throughout their lives.
